Building shared prosperityevery neighborhood in l.a. Is full of dreamers and doers who have a vision for what their community could be. That's why we work with local partners to create community-owned approaches to building wealth and power that will change the future for this generation and the next.we are investing for shared prosperity efforts that create pathways of opportunity and equity across our region. We have:- the affordable housing initiative has invested in 238 affordable units financed at 50% of the average cost this last year and continues to scale that program through lacahsa, the housing solutions agency we helped create. It has the potential to create an (cont. On sch. O) impactful supply of affordable housing and prevent homelessness across our region.- the community prosperity initiative aims to engage local community members in building an economy that works for them. Over the year, over 500 residents and 20 local community-based partners were engaged in asset mapping and planning to begin building community enterprises across three neighborhoods pico union, north long beach and the city of san fernando.- to increase completion and transfer rates, our community college success initiative supported 327 community college students through orientation/college fairs, hardship funds, mentorships, and toolkits.
United way of greater los angeles enables donors to designate their gifts to other united way or to other nonprofit organizations. In fiscal year 2023-2024, we processed $3,665,005 in designations.
