The united way of fairfield county offers free tax preparation for low to moderate income individuals and families through our volunteer income tax site (vita) and for anyone over the age of 60 through our tax counseling for elderly site (tce). Our vita site provided free tax preparation for more than 638 individuals or families during the 2024 tax season. Our tce site prepared over 592 tax returns during 2024. Both sites utilize irs certified volunteers to prepare and file the returns. Clients received a total of 1.3 million in refunds.

The united way of fairfield county, in partnership with the ohio governor's imagination library and the dolly parton's imagination library, is working to improve the kindergarten readiness in our community by furnishing books to over 5,000 preschool aged children in fairfield county each month.

Expenses: $139K

United way of fairfield county organizes and facilitates the feeding our future program on a monthly basis throughout the school year. The program is primarily for local elementary school students on the free and reduced lunch program. Registered students receive a package of food to take home once a month. The package includes a variety of choices which consist of approximately six meals to get the student through the weekend and usually weighs about eight pounds. Currently, the program exists in 8 fairfield county elementary, primary or preschools serving over 7,700 students each month for 9 months.
