United way of greater richmond & petersburg is a nonprofit organization that exists to mobilize the caring power of our local communities to help those in need and to create opportunities for all people to thrive.

Financial security-122 households moved into permanent housing through crisis hotline support. Home repair, adult day services, and home care programs resulted in savings of $21,490,863 for family caregivers and taxpayers. United way tax assistance program assisted 3,200 filers for a total economic impact of $3.6 million. $3.6 million in tax refunds and $937,873 in earned income tax credit refunds. This program saved filers $815,500 in tax prep fees womenrise childcare scholarships support single moms working toward a post-secondary degree or credential, 84% of whom are first generation college students. In its third year, the women rise graduation rate has grown to 48% with nearly half of the new participants successfully completing the program so far (15 of 31). $400,000 awarded in scholarships to date. Energyshare: for 40 years, dominion energy has partnered with united way to provide financial management of the energy share program. Since the program's inception, energyshare has supported over 908,000 individuals and families.
Healthy community-99% of children were regularly screened for developmental milestones and referred to relevant services, if needed. 1,387 people trained in everyday strong, youth resiliency support model in partnership with 30 community- based partners.
