Mission

The umcoe foundation provides gap-filling resources to help mizzou's college of engineering continue its quest for excellence in meeting current and future challenges during a period when state budgets have been drastically restricted for higher education. Our alumni and friends of the college have provided valuable support for these objectives. Mizzou's college of engineering has attracted faculty, staff and students who are nationally and internationally recognized. Faculty and staff have achieved teaching excellence awards from the university and they have conducted state and nationally funded research. Undergraduate and graduate students enroll with exceptional credentials involved in research and student programs year-round. The foundation supports these faculty, staff, and students by the following: - providing facility and departmental support. - establishing and funding student scholarships. - providing funds for recognition of superior researchers or teachers (faculty, student

Since its inception, the foundation has reserved a pool of funds for the dean's discretion for expenses not within the coe's restricted budget (e.g. 2016 strategic plan, 2018 & 2019 excellence awards) and another pool for departments that prefer direct payments for non-budget expenses. For example, the foundation used reserved funds to pay travel expenses for the spouse of the college of engineering commencement speaker in december 2019. To date, invoices totaling 68,337 have been paid on behalf of the dean and another 56,594 for the chemical engineering academy. At year-end 2024, the foundation maintained 50,237 on its balance sheet restricted for the directives of the dean and chemical engineering academy.

At year-end 2024, the foundation held 107,183 in endowed funds and uses the university of missouri endowment pool to invest its funds under an agency agreement. The distributions from that endowment account are collected and used for cooperative projects with the coe. Since inception in 2015, the value of the endowment increased 13,954 yielding a 7.1% annual rate of return.
