The gengras center is a state-approved private special education facility that provides highly structured, intensive and self-contained special education programs for elementary, middle and high school students. In 2023 it served 140 students from surrounding communities. At the center, university of saint joseph students fulfill required classes in the fields of special education, nursing, social work, counseling, and nutrition.the school for young children is a nationally-accredited preschool which has been serving children since 1936; in 2023 it enrolled 100 students. It serves as a training program for university students pursuing careers in early childhood education and related fields.
