Mission
Urban Poets Societys mission is to create an organized support system; to uplift the community and the youth through mentorship and leadership programs. We support our community and youth through scholarships, mental health support, and BIPOC centered opportunities to use the arts. UPS has 250 particpants This year we launched a program called RE-UP which provides FREE mental health support with peer support to both adults and youth in the community. This program has a center of mental health and art. With our community-led affinity groups, RE:UP provided essential support and resources to facilitate personal and intergenerational healing, prevent burnout, and repair harms. We aim to empower community members to rediscover their voices, reclaim their lives, and restore their families, rebuilding without shame or guilt. Our focus is on creating safe spaces where we can walk hand-in-hand together on our healing journey, releasing ourselves from trauma. RE-UP had over 150 participants.
