Upper Valley Mend

Affordable Housing: The Organization address the pressing issue of affordable housing in the Upper Wenatchee Valley be establishing an affordable homeownership program in 2021 which has twenty homes in two neighborhoods. The homes on this land were built by Upper Valley MEND in 2001 and 2006, and sold for affordable prices to the original buyers, who earned low or moderate incomes. The organization leases the land to the homeowners for a nominal fee. The Organization assists homeowners during ownership transfer of homes, to ensure future buyers are income qualified and the homes sell for an affordable price. The Organization also offers down payment assistance loans to qualified home buyers, using a revolving loan fund originally granted from the Department of Commerce. Additionally, the Organization rental housing program provides affordable rentals for qualifying individuals, they currently have thirty-one rental units in services as of December 31, 2024.

Jubilee global gifts is a fair-trade retail store selling hand-crafted items from around the devleoping world. Das thrift haus is the upper wenatchee valleys home for low-cost clothing, houshold goods and unexpected treasures.

FIANNCIAL ASSISTANCE: The Organization's financial assistance program focuses on stabilizing individuals and families in crisis, helping them stay in their homes and make a plan for the future. The financial assistance program offers critical support, including rent and mortgage assistance, transportation aid, utility bill relief, and temporary housing solutions. They complement this assistance with case management and referrals to ensure comprehensive support for individuals and families in need. Financial assistance services help residents in the Upper Wenatchee Valley.

Jubilee Global Gifts: a retail store selling hand-crafted items from around the world. Proceeds help provide food, housing and health care for families in need locally and benefit artisans in developing countries.

Other programs including Cornerstone Community and Upper Valley Free Clinic that provides assistance to people facing dental or medical issues at no cost. The clinic is a weekly free walk-in health clinic that meets the needs of uninsured and under insured people in the Upper Wenatchee Valley. The Clinic is staffed by volunteer providers, nurses, receptionists, and translators from the local medical center. The space and supplies are donated by Cascade Medical Center in Leavenworth.

Gleaning: The Organization's gleaning program harvest surplus produce from farms, orchards, backyard gardens, and farmers markets. These fruits and vegetables go to families and individuals who would not otherwise have access to fresh, local produce. This program is made possible by the volunteers that help harvest the produce and the donors that provide the produce.
