Mission

We serve utah's children by finding, educating, and nurturing families to meet the needs of children in foster care.

Programs

2 programs

Utah foster care continues to grow its clinical program. Clinical support services to foster and kinship families can address the crucial need for emotional and psychological support for foster parents who are caring for children with complex needs. This need arises from the unique challenges and stressors that foster parents often face while providing a safe and nurturing environment for children who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect. During fiscal year 2024, utah foster care worked with more than 1,400 family members in both group and individual sessions and currently has four licensed clinicians throughout utah.

Expenses: $350K

Utah foster care supports the first lady abby cox's show up for foster care initiative through utah foster care's pilot program - care communities. In this program a foster family is surrounded with a care team within the family's community. Training is provided so foster parents and care team members learn how caring relationships positively impact children in care, the basics of child welfare safety standards, and spend time building a care plan with the foster parents. Fiscal year 2024 started with 6 foster families and 6 care teams to include 85 care members and partnering with 6 organizations in salt lake, utah, and duchesne counties. Fiscal year 2025 will bring on additional care teams to support even more foster families as the program continues to expand.
