Healthy living: the y is committed to improving america's health and well-being, community by community. We bring families closer together, encourage good health and foster connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. As a result, over 70,000 people in our community are receiving the support, guidance and resources they need to achieve greater health in spirit, mind and body. This is particularly important as our nation struggles with chronic disease and obesity, families wrestle with work/life balance and individuals search for personal fulfillment. Our programs provide support for healthy families including cancer support, subsidized meals for children in need, and a free medical a free medical & dental clinic that is providing for many children the first medical or dental service they have experienced. These programs are accessible, affordable and open to all faiths, backgrounds, abilities and income levels. In addition to providing financial assistance to people who otherwise may not have been able to afford to participate, the ymca provides subsidized memberships for seniors, military veterans and community groups.
Social responsibility - our ymca believes in giving back and supporting our neighbors. We have been listening and responding to our community's most critical social needs for more than 125 years. Y programs, such as senior outreach, youth & government, youth workforce development, military outreach, financial assistance, tutoring and mentoring, juvenile intervention, and downtown housing for those in life transition, are examples of how we deliver training, resources and support that empower our neighbors to effect change, bridge gaps and overcome obstacles. In 2024, we engaged over 1,500 ymca volunteers in activities that strengthen our community and pave the way for future generations to thrive.
