Verbal Behavior Special Interest Group A Nj Nonprofit Corporation

The mission of the VB SIG is to support the advancement of verbal behavior research and treatment approaches. Verbal behavior may be conceptualized as language from a behavior analytic perspective. The VB SIG supports the study of verbal behavior as defined by B.F. Skinner. This particular perspective defines verbal behavior as behavior that is reinforced through social mediation (Skinner, 1957). From this perspective, verbal behavior is examined and organized according to the environmental variables that influence it. The VB SIG endeavors to provide institutional, financial, and scholarly support to those interested in studying verbal behavior.
