The emergency aid program provides financial and emotional help to individuals and families throughout vermont experiencing a crisis. The top three categories of aid provided were food, housing (back rent/security deposits) and utility bills (electric, fuel/heating). The emergency aid program meets a community need as there is not an income threshold for clients to qualify for assistance. This means households which might fall through the cracks are helped.in addition, vcci provides limited financial support to newly released inmates to help them have a chance at a new start. Assistance might include: grocery cards, back rent or security deposits, and outstanding utility or fuel bills for those facing shut offs. Vcci also offers case management to clients where they learn how to navigate through systems and community resources. The goal is to empower clients through education, advocacy, and networking to improve their ability to be self-sufficient. Vcci's emergency aid program served 2278 individuals.for 29 years, vcci has provided financial help to individuals and families during the holiday season through the advent appeal. In december 2023, 986 children and adults received food cards, gift cards, fuel/utility assistance, or help with back rent. The purpose of vermont catholic charities 2023 flood relief grants was to provide financial support to those impacted by the floods. Grant awards to long term recovery groups helped provide funds to assist communities throughout vermont with their direct recovery, ensuring that most basic needs could be met, such as housing, food, and heat.
