Old Glory Honor Flight is a program which takes veterans from Wisconsi to Washington DC. At DC the veteran visits many of the veteran memorials. Many of the veterans have never been to Washington DC. For many veterans this visit is a great event in his or her life. The visit helps some veterans to heal old wounds remaining from the war or conflict in which he or she fought. The sponsors hope that this visit will be educational for all veterans. And that the visit might also be a step to help a veteran to seek counseling and not be a suicide victim. Each veteran is accompanied with a chaperone. The trip to DC is at no expense to the veteran. The trip is to honor veterans, to find peace, to honor the fallen, to bond with fellow veterans.
The Wisconsin Veteran Village Association owns and operates a 48 unit rental property. They provide low income housing to a single veteran or to a veteran who has a spouse and children. The rental fee is based on income and is usually less than market rate. This housing place gives the veteran an opportunity to get back on his feet. The housing units are located within walking distance to a VA medical clinic and to the Fox Valley Technical College.
