Vidyadhara Foundation

Provided grant to a rural community vocational training school, located near Meerut, India for teaching computer languages, and applications to local and needy students so that they develop necessary skills and be part of productive workforce in their community. More than 200 students received the training and most found jobs in their field reducing poverty and creating economic progress in that community.

In 2024, our project achieved two key milestones. We provided a $650 grant to an NGO in Rwanda, supporting over 80 women with disabilities, many of whom have been affected by polio, the Rwanda genocide, or conditions such as missing limbs or visual/hearing impairments. The grant was used to fund educational initiatives, specifically enabling the women to learn basket weaving. This funding allowed instructors to purchase high-quality materials, empowering the women to refine their craft. This initiative is particularly important in a region where individuals with disabilities often face stigma and discrimination. By showcasing the products they created, we were able to enhance their self-esteem and confidence, helping them feel recognized as active, contributing members of society. In total, we provided over 3,600 hours of work and training in basket weaving.

Additionally, with a grant our organization supported over 1,000 hours of education for individuals living with intellectual and cognitive disabilities in India, Tanzania, and Cambodia. These individuals often experience discrimination and stigma, but through our programs, they were taught valuable skills such as sewing, candle making, and woodworking. As a result, they created beautiful handbags, candles, stuffed animals, and purses. We also worked to raise awareness in the United States about their work, empowering these individuals and fostering a greater sense of community. To further celebrate their achievements, we created a video showcasing an art show featuring their work, allowing them to see the global impact they've made.
