To advance the transformation of the virgin islands food system to a just, culturally relevant and equitable food system, and to increase food and nutrition security, sovereignty, and sustainable and regenerative agriculture through outreach and education; market access; technical assistance; research and data collection; advocacy; capital access; and support services.

Marketplace creation and access - upported the development of a publicly available directory of active food and farm businesses across the u.s. Virgin islands, which collected and verified 240 local food businesses. Distributed over $5,000 in incentives for purchasing local food via the good food bucks program. Beta tested a virtual farmers market platform for accessing food and farm businesses. Developed a business builder award program, under the regional food business center program, to distribute over $1.5 million in food business grants to the usvi and puerto rico in 2025 - 2026.

Education and outreach - hosted the inaugural island food systems summit in st. Croix, with 145 attendees joining in a cross-learning opportunity on food systems practices, education, policy, and resources. Representatives from across the us virgin islands, the british virgin islands, hawai'i, puerto rico, vieques, alaska and the lower-48 u.s. Joined. Scholarships were provided to 32 farmers to join. Supported delivering a 6-week youth education summer program with community partners in farm and environmental sectors. Provided community education at multiple community-wide events to increase knowledge on accessing local farms and producers.
