Mission
The purpose of the organization is to promote ski and snowbard racing at the University of Virginia (UVA) as well as to encourage the participation in the sports of skiing and snowboarding in general. The Virginia Alpine Ski and Snowboard team (VASST) provides an opportunity for experienced racers - and all recreational skiers and snowboarders interested in learning how to race - a chance to train and compete while attending UVA.

VASST holds biweekly practices at Wintergreen Ski Resort during the first six weeks of the spring semester at UVA. The purpose of the practices is to allow racers to run courses, train in the terrain park, and get feedback from coaches and fellow team members. The race team, which consists of skiers and snowboarders, attends races at various resorts in the Southeastern Conference during the first five weeks of the semester in order to qualify for regional championships and national championships.
