The virginia biotechnology association (virginia bio) is a 501(c)(6) non-profit membership organization that was founded in 1992. The association represents the interest of the life science community in the commonwealth of virginia.

In january 2024, virginia bio hosted the virginia reception at the jp morgan healthcare conference held at the marker hotel in san francisco along with our state bio partners from arizona, california, georgia, michigan, new jersey, north carolina, new york, ohio, oregon, and pennsylvania. This free reception, bringing together bio-industry professionals from member organizations around the country to kick the week off right.

Thrive conference in 2024 - taking place at the u.s. Patent & trademark office in alexandria, this bi-annual event gathered over 125 attendees, including researchers, entrepreneurs, startups, and bioscience companies. The conference emphasized paradigm shifts in the bioscience ecosystem and fostered innovation, networking, and inspiration across the industry.

Regular networking initiatives such as luncheon lecture series and young professional meetups, underscore virginia bio's commitment to driving growth and collaboration in virginia's life sciences sector.
