Vfa promotes stewardship and wise use of the commonwealth's forest resources for the economic and environmental benefits of all virginians.

Legislative activities - to educate the virginia general assembly, u.s. Congress, and local governments about the forestry industry and its impact on the environment and economy.
Other programs - to include the sustainable forestry initiative, which assists companies, loggers, and landowners in improving forestry practices; project learning tree, which is an internationally renowned forestry and environmental education program for k-12 students and directlty supports the virginia standards of learning; and the publication of the "virginia forests" trade magazine which is distributed to all members.
