Stormwater reduction and resilience: VAIPL works to support the community-led efforts to address sea level rise, flooding due to severe weather, well failures, rising water tables, and salinization in coastal communities. We are educating communities, planning resilience strategies, and seeking solutions for individuals across the state. We are working on the middle peninsula to help faith communities develop resilience strategies and projects to support residents, particularly in severe weather conditions. Finally, we are serving faith communities in Richmond and Petersburg for stormwater reduction, heat island impact, and lowering their energy costs.

Expenses: $124K

We are educating faith leaders and community members concerned about the health outcomes for their members and all Virginia residents. Heat stress and heat zones due to a lack of tree canopy and green space exacerbate chronic diseases like diabetes and asthma in children. Tree canopy raises the aesthetic and environment for community members, which has a positive impact on mental and emotional health.
