Mission

To help law enforcement officers traumitized in the line of duty retain, regain and maintain health and wellness for the benefit of themselves, their families, their departments and the communities they serve.

Cism- developed and coordinated the statewide network of peer counselors who are deployed when a critical incident occurs to provide immediate onsite support to law enforcement personnel and their family members and the community. Organized and conducted 59 deployments across virginia in which 245 peers and critical mental health professionals provided services to 1261 individuals.

Training- provided training to 310 law enforcement officers across the state to increase the number and skill of virginia's peer cism network, and to strengthen the ability of law enforcement personnel to deal with the trauma so often experienced in the line of duty.

Expenses: $42K

Valeap provides "other program services" (in addition to the three largest services described on page 2) auch as peer support and mental health services to individual officers, to assist them in the healing process adter traumatic experience in the line of duty, and assists law enforcement agencies throughout the state, as well as in other states, to develop programs to support their first responders.
