Advancing children's education through better vision, by offering free vision screenings to oklahoma's children to identify vision issues that, if never identified, could seriously hamper a child's ability to succeed academically. To be the leading nonprofit organization in the region providing vision screenings to all children so they may reach their full educational potential.

Programs

Professional education and training: serving as an authoritative source of information of the latest development in vision and eye care so that the eye care professionals, nurses, teachers and others in blindness prevention can better service their clients. Providing state approved training for nurses and school staff in chart and photo screening.

Expenses: $201K

Community service: sponsoring and promoting screening programs for the early detection of signs of eye trouble amoung preschool children, school aged children, and adults, particularly amblyopia (lazy eye) in children, and glaucoma and amd (age-related macular degeneration) in adults. Vizavance provides referrals to children and adults who do not pass the screenings and need medical follow-up. Vouchers for free exams and glasses are provided for families who qualify.
