Mission
Volunteer fairfax leads, connects, and mobilizes people and resources to meet community needs through targeted volunteer engagement of diverse populations to serve their communities. Working in partnership with public agencies, nonprofits, volunteers, and corporations we address critical needs through targeted volunteer engagement and organizational support by amplifying community impact through intentional volunteer engagement ranging from individual to organized group projects.

Volunteer fairfax hosts three signature events annually. The first two are family-friendly days of service. (1) volunteerfest, held every fall, offers attendees service projects to participate in as well as the opportuny to connect with dozens of local nonprofits and public agencies during a community fair to learn about their volunteer and donation needs. In fy25, volunteerfest provided the opportunity to engage with 24 nonprofits and agencies. 433 attendees also completed 7 projects, contributing 649.5 hours of service to local organizations. (2) vf's martin luther king, jr. Week of service includes family-friendly volunteer service day give together and the community conversation. This year's event resulted in almost 400 volunteers providing: 1,400 student emergency preparedness kits for fairfax county's department of emergency response, 300 hygiene/care packages for residents of birmingham green, 180 build-a-bears for children experiencing trauma in fairfax county that were distributed by fairfax county government's department of family services (dfs), 300 snowman cups containing warm gloves and fruit snacks to benefit those experiencing housing instability, 200 suncatchers for hospitalized children, 150 i-spy bottles to help provide developmental tools to cri residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities, 400 bird nesting material dispensers to support local birds during the winter, 300 snack bags for four fcps title 1 middle school students, 100 care packages for residents in hospice care, 600 snack packs for 350 kids. Webs training also led six financial literacy workshops for participants. (3) in june of 2025, volunteer fairfax hosted the volunteer service awards (vsas) honoring 55 individuals in the county who have provided outstanding service to their communities in the previous year. 135 guests enjoyed the afternoon awards reception, where 10 community champions were recognized by the board of supervisors.
