Volunteers Improving Neighborhood Environments Vines

Farm Share: The organization works with local farms to help individuals eat produce that is harvested in the area through a weekly subscription to a box of produce. As part of the program, the organization offers different size subscriptions, income based discounts, flexible payment plans, and provides weekly education to subscribers. As a result of the discounts offered and the additional contributions and grants received to support the program,the organization shows a loss on the sale of the produce but receives sufficient support for the program to cover the loss.

Community Gardens: As of the end of 2024, the organization has twenty-two (22) community gardens; fifteen (15) located in the City of Binghamton, one (1) located in the Village of Johnson City, one (1) located in Endwell, one (1) located in the Town of Vestal, two (2) located in the Village of Endicott,one (1) in the Town of Fenton, and one (1) in the Town of Dickinson. At a community garden, individuals can rent a raised garden bed for their own use for a yearly fee. The garden bed comes built and ready for planting with fertile soil and on-site water as well as access to compost, water, and seeds.

Other Minor Programs: The organization runs other minor programs from time to time in support of its mission to developing a sustainable and just community food system.

Green Thumb Education: The organization's green thumb education series provides community members an opportunity to learn about a variety of gardening and culinary topics through hands-on workshops and related activities.
