Wabash Valley Community Foundation Inc

On march 31, 2023, a severe storm system, including an ef-3 tornado, caused significant damage to agricultural and residential areas in sullivan county, indiana, one of the counties served by the wabash valley community foundation. In response, the community foundation established a dedicated relief fund to assist affected residents. Utilizing the voluntary organizations active in disaster (voad) model, the community foundation has provided disaster relief payments on behalf of 26 families who were directly impacted by the storm.

The wabash valley community foundation was awarded community leadership grants from the lilly endowment inc., giving indiana funds for tomorrow (gift) viii initiate for community foundations, to engage stakeholders in the development and implementation of strategic, large-scale initiatives aimed at addressing critical community challenges and opportunities. These grants facilitated the creation of comprehensive community plans in vigo and clay counties, as well as an economic impact study in sullivan county.
