Programs
2 programs
Conduct communications program: the wtma continues to conduct an extensive communications program as part of the curb loading management. The program includes meetings with city and county departments, the hawaii transportation association, presentation to the waikiki improvement association board and articles in their newsletter, development and distribution of informational materials, and briefings and interaction with the waikiki neighborhood board, improvement associations and district, and businesses. ($62,547)
Centennial park vehicle staging area: the wtma identified an area adjacent to centennial park to provide a staging area for commercial passenger vehicles. The wtma worked with the rotary who funded the park development and the city (dpr) and dts to delineate a 12-foot by 250-foot space on the manukai street side of the park for a vehicle staging area. This staging area will accommodate up to three 45-foot buses, keeping them from circling or loitering in other areas. This proposal is supported by the waikk neighborhood board as it provides an area for large buses to dwell rather than increasing traffic or displacing parking. The city has developed an agreement between dpr and dts that allows wtma to manage the manukai street staging area. Wtma will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of the staging area that adjoins centennial park. ($56,865)
