To preserve, share, and support the full unique history and culture of wake forest - college, town, and university; and in cooperation with wake forest university to create a living laboratory of academic inquiry into civic, community, and institutional history.

Maintain a modern museum facility dedicated to preserving and storing historical objects and archival materials related to wake forest. Maintain rotating and permanent exhibits. NEW EXHIBIT AT WAKE FOREST HISTORICAL MUSEUM THAT EXPLORES HISTORY OF WAKE FOREST, RELATING OUR LOCAL HISTORY TO BROADER REGIONAL AND NATIONAL CONTEXTS AND REVEALS HOW SOCIAL, POLITICAL, AND ECONOMIC FACTORS SHAPE THE PLACES WHERE WE LIVE AND WORK TODAY, DISCUSSING THE HISTORIES OF TRANSPORTATION AND TRAVEL, SEGREGATION, THE RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, AND THE NEUSE RIVER BASIN. THE EXHIBIT GOALS ARE TO ORIENT VISITORS TO WAKE FOREST IN RELATION TO THE ARTIFACTS AND STORIES THEY ENCOUNTER AT THE MUSEUM; INTRODUCE VISITORS TO THE BROAD THEMES OF WAKE FOREST HISTORY AND LOCATE WAKE FOREST IN REGIONAL AND NATIONAL CONTEXTS; HELP VISITORS UNDERSTAND CONTINUITY AND CHANGE WITHIN WAKE FOREST HISTORY AND REFLECT ON HOW THE PAST SHAPES OUR COMMUNITY TODAY; HELP VISITORS BECOME CRITICAL CONSUMERS OF MAPS, PHOTOGRAPHS, AND ILLUSTRATIONS; AND SHOW VISITORS HOW THE SIGNIFICANCE OF A PLACE WAS CONSTANTLY NEGOTIATED AS INDIVIDUALS INTERACTED, LABORED, AND EXERCISED POWER ACROSS A CHANGING LANDSCAPE.
