Mission

It is the mission of the Waldo County YMCA to promote the physical, mental, social and spiritual development of Waldo County children

Programs

2 programs

The aquatics programs in the Tom and Sally Savage Natatorium hold a special place in our history, born from a desire to provide local children with the opportunity to swim. Today, swimming remains a cornerstone of our offerings, anchored by our robust swim team. Recognizing our countys extensive lake and ocean frontage, we prioritize drowning prevention and water safety. Our free swim safety program reaches over 120 children annually across Waldo County public schools. Beyond this vital outreach, we provide hundreds of swim lessons each year and partner with the local hospital, subsidising their use of our warm water pool for physical therapy. Our pools are more than just water; they are spaces for healthy exercise, soothing relaxation, and the building of community bonds.

Our youth programs are committed to the growth and development of young people in our community. Our Little Learners Preschool provides a strong educational foundation, while our convenient before and after school care and engaging vacation care options support working families. Our popular summer camp serves 300 children annually, offering enriching experiences. Furthermore, our county-wide sports leagues, encompassing swimming, t-ball, basketball, field hockey, and soccer, promote active lifestyles and teamwork. Across all our youth programs, we intentionally integrate character development, ensuring that children build strong values alongside valuable skills for a bright future.
