The wantagh hook, ladder & engine co. No. 1 is a volunteer fire company. The purpose of the organization is to provide volunteer fire protection, fire education and awareness. As well, members of the organization provide emergency medical assistance (emt's) and life preservation services to the community. Volunteer fire fighters and emergency medical specialists of the organization primarily serve the wantagh fire district (a governmental entity) with the man power to fight fires and respond to emergencies. The organizations members also provide "mutual aid and "standy by" to surrounding districts when requested to do such. The services provided by the members support the social welfare and well being of the community in the form of fire fighting, fire protection, emegency medical services to a governmental entity.

Christmas party: the organization sponsors a christmas party for its current volunteer members as well as members of the local community. The company utilizes this time to enage the public with awareness activities.
Contributions: the wantagh hook & ladder company sponsors various community outreach activities and local little league teams, and makes donations to local civic organizations that promote social welfare, education and the betterment of the local community.
