Mentorship: the organization mentored over 400 students from the washington d.c., northern virginia, and maryland high school system during the annual black engineer of the year (beya) conference. Chapter members volunteered and mentored students on military and stem related careers. This is the only opportunity many high school age children have to interface with senior leaders of the military and to learn about the wide selection of career options that exist within the military.
Annual programs: the organization conducted a monthly leaders/ members professional development session during each general body meeting. Senior leaders (civilian and military) were invited to address topics designed to enhance members' understanding of emerging military initiatives while at the same time offer professional leadership development.
