FIRST (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Washington engages youth ages 6-18 in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, technology, engineering, and math skills, inspire innovation, and foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership. We strive to bring STEM equity, access, and inclusion to the most disadvantaged youth in communities lacking resources so that ALL youth can develop 21st-century workforce/life skills, so that the STEM pipeline includes more diversity, and so that we can solve the STEM workforce shortage for local businesses.

FIRST, the largest afterschool STEM program in Washington, serves over 15,000 through a seamless progression of programs which engages students from grades K-12 into the world of STEM and prepares them for post-secondary education and the workforce.
