The Wesley is very intentional about developing leaders through its discipleship program. The Wesley has a student leadership team where regular mentorship serving experience and leadership opportunities are provided for students. The student leadership program is based on experiential learning where students are provided with regular opportunities to lead and serve others. The student leadership team goes on two retreats each year to help plan future Fall and Spring Semesters and connect with each other. The student leadership team overseas these areas of ministry at the Wesley: worship outreach community events intramurals spiritual formation and media. This program enriches the college experience of our students and helps them develop spiritually mentally and physically while learning how to serve and lead others. It also gives about 25 students per year an opportunity to discover if they may be called to full-time ministry.

The Wesley dedicates a significant amount of time to student outreach during the week of Texas Tech Orientations and Welcome Week when new freshmen move to Texas Tech Campus. During Welcome Week The Wesley hosts close to 1,600 students at our weekly events that include an outdoor worship service as well as several other community outreach and fellowship events. These events are designed to give students especially freshmen who are away from home for the first time in their lives a chance to connect with other like-minded believers and support them in their spiritual journey. The Wesley will also host seasonal outreach events to continue to build relationships with college students throughout the semester. These big events are done in an effort to welcome new students to Lubbock and to help them get connected with a Jesus-focused community.
