Western maine community action, inc.'s mission is to act as a representative of, and to advocate with and for people, on issues that affect them; to provide quality services to meet identified human needs in the most cost effective way possible; to promote sensitivity and to foster cooperation within programs, organizations, and communities in meeting the needs of people; and to mobilize and work with all resources in developing innovative solutions to community problems.

Community services/housing and energy: provides fuel assistance through the liheap program. Eligible liheap families are also eligible for home weatherization, and furnace repair or replacement to reduce fuel costs and make their home more energy efficient. Additional services include home improvement and repair loans. Community services provides food for seniors and information and referral services for individuals seeking social services in franklin county as well as emergency assistance for food and housing.
