WPAs purpose is to stimulate the exchange of scientific and professional ideas in psychology by enhancing interest, research and scholarship in the discipline. This is accomplished through an annual research conference, as well as our website and newsletter.

Based on a blind review of their abstracts, the Program Review Committee selects students who are listed as first authors of their abstracts for the Western Psychological Association Scholarship Awards. Each of these outstanding students receives their award at the WPA Awards Presentation at the Convention. Each student scholar will receive a cash award for research excellence.
