Mission
Our mission is to improve the quality of life of westside community residents through increased civic responsibility, enhanced mental and physical well-being, and advanced educational opportunities. And, in doing so, we will address behavioral health, generational trauma and wealth-based obstacles to progress through the creation of opportunities that will create a pathway to generational wealth.
Programs
2 programs
The overall ethnicity of the West Garfield community continues to diversify. To increase community relations and promote meaningful communication among residents, we offered free Spanish classes. This 12-week program provided basic conversational language skills. Based on the success of the program, we are now offering free English classes to our non-English speaking residents.
The Westside Community Empowerment Center provided free STEM classes to 12 attendees aging in ranges 7 - 12 years of age. Using technology, each participant designed a game, program or activity centered on their area of interest. Each student presented their final work product to an audience consisting of parents and WCEC board members.
