Health care workforce development - addressing the workforce needs of wisconsin health care providers has been a focus of the foundation over the past decade. Most recently, the foundation provided funding to develop, launch and maintain the bachelor of science in nursing (bsn) completion program (website http://bsn.wha.org). This site provides nurses looking to take the next step in their education and move from an associate's degree to a bachelor's degree with one, online location to learn more about each bsn completion program that recruits and enrolls wisconsin nurses. The foundation also supports the annual foundation scholars' program, providing two annual scholarships to each of the 16 technical colleges in wisconsin. The unique twist is the scholarship covers expenses incurred in the student's final semester, to assist and encourage students to make that one final push toward graduation and a career in health care. Since its inception in 2003, more than 475 scholarships have been awarded, worth more than $850,000.
