Willie Mae Rock Camp is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering girls and gender-expansive youth through music education and mentorship.
Programs
3 programs
Community Workshops: Workshops for girls and gender-expansive youth ages 10-17 integrating music education with technology. Conducted in partnership with youth-serving organizations and institutions throughout NYC, workshops introduce students to making music with electronic instruments, live recording and sampling, creative software, and beatmaking.
After-School Programs: Intensive after-school programming that teaches girls and gender-expansive youth ages 10-17 STEM and creative skills through electronic music and digital arts. Students gain experience with song development, electronic instruments and audio software, building DIY electronics, creative coding, and multimedia arts.
Other Programs: Other programming includes project-based full-day summer and school-break programs for girls and gender-expansive youth ages 10-17 teaching the fundamentals of producing music with creative tech; and the alumni fellows program, which provides program alumni who are emerging musicians and artists with mentorship and support to create and present new work, build their artistic portfolios, and expand their creative career opportunities.
