Winter Center For Restorative Justice

OUTREACH Services for Youth and Elderly: $810 Outreach includes connecting youth, seniors, interfaith, multicultural populations, caregivers, mentors and learners. From tending gardens to producing videos/theater to art fairs, community service opportunities, cultural engagement, service learning and caregiver support. This program provides Affordable Housing through Winter Center's ownership (Limited Partnership-LP) of affordable and rent assisted housing complexes for seniors, families in rural areas (Income and Regulation Guidelines apply). In addition, affordable housing program services are designed to increase the quality of life and broaden the horizons of the 'mature' citizens of rural Kansas. By connecting youth and seniors, enriched engagement and connection is provided to both. It also assists children who are in the care of their grandparents. Over 300 volunteers and participants with more than 20 engagement events.

Restorative Justice Services: Restorative Justice is a systemic response to wrong doing that emphasizes healing the wounds of victims, offenders and communities impacted by criminal behaviors. We identify and take steps to repair harm, involving all stakeholders and transform the traditional relationships between communities and the victim in the justice process. Overall we mentored more than 7 cases statewide and $2,000 in financial support. We consider community outreach restorative by bridging varied populations through shared connection and experience.
