The wisconsin society of anesthesiologists held its annual meeting at the madison concourse hotel in madison, wi. After this meeting, attendees were able to 1) appreciate the principles of patient safety and apply those principles to everyday practice, 2) identify the anesthetic issues faced when caring for complicated patients in multiple fields including cardiac, ob, and patients with difficult airways, 3) discuss updates in perioperative optimization and apply those updates to patient care, 4) understand risks associated with regional anesthesia, and identify ways to intervene when complications arise, 5) polish existing pocus skills and learn and understand novel pocus techniques, 6) appreciate the role that the asa and the wsa play in our legislative process and their implications for individual practice, 7) recognize the challenges presented by opioids and understand the fundamentals of safe opioid prescribing and 8) develop tools and techniques to address workplace safety and build a culture of relationship-centered communication. The meeting offered up to 11.0 accreditation council for continuing medical education (accme) continuing medical education (cme) credits provided through amedco, including 1.0 opioid credit.
