Women in Migration Network convened representatives from four Spanish-speaking organizations over several months in its Leadership in Global Advocacy program (LIGA) for grassroots leadership, conducting 3 capacity-building workshops and other sessions. WIMN supported the participation of grassroots representatives in global and regional fora and activities relevant to issues of migration and gender.
Women in Migration Network's educational and awareness-raising activities included sharing with members and allies research, analysis and commentaries on issues related to gender and migration, climate change and workers' rights. WIMN conducted a series of virtual webinars focused on the intersection of migration, gender, climate change and the environment, engaging with grassroots organizations in various global regions. The results of these webinars was published in graphic summaries widely distributed and available on our website. We routinely shared relevant news, analyses and educational resources on our website and through broad email distribution and social media.
Women in Migration Network collaborated with other non-governmental organizations, international agencies and other governmental institutions working on similar issues, and co-coordinated activities to advance shared goals and objectives concerning gender and migration. This included co-sponsorship of educational events during the Global Forum on Migration and Development and participation in the annual meeting of the UN Network on Migration, both in Geneva, Switzerland; and co-coordination of activities in line with the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York. WIMN members participated in numerous other fora, both virtual and in-person, providing analyses and advocacy proposals, and provided written contributions towards international reports and briefings.
