Mission
Wise leads the upper valley to end gender-based violence through survivor-centered advocacy, prevention, education, and mobilization for social change. Wise serves 23 communities in the northern new england counties of grafton (nh), windsor (vt), and orange (vt).
Programs

The wise prevention and education program offers trainings, classes, events and comprehensive online and printed resources to children, youth, professionals and community adults to share information and expand understanding regarding gender-based violence. Wise develops prevention curriculums for children and teens that focus on building knowledge, skills, and behaviors that encourage safe, healthy, and respectful relationships. Wise also provides trainings to medical, legal, and law enforcement professionals on the complex issues related to trauma and violence and their impact on survivors. Additionally, wise's prevention and education program uses social media, radio programming, community events, and other venues and sources to engage the community in learning more about gender-based violence. During the year ended june 30, 2024, wise delivered 768 presentations and reached 6,185 youth and adult community members including professionals.
Wise legal services offers family court representation for survivors and comprehensive services to immigrant survivors of gender-based violence. Wise represents vermont survivors in divorce and custodial issues, and provides legal assistance to new hampshire survivors who are affected by mental health and/or substance use challenges through a funded partnership with new hampshire legal assistance (nhla). During the year ended june 30, 2024, wise provided legal support to 96 people, and provided training to 187 people.
