Womens Resource Center In Durango

Small Business Consultation, Legal Aid, Womenade, and Morley Empowerment are a series of programs and services provided to individuals in our community to navigate barriers to success on the path to self-sufficiency. In collaboration with the Small Business Development Center, we supply resources and referrals to enhance womens entrepreneurship skills through consultations and office space. Legal Aid increases access to legal services for low-income women. Services include low bono consultations, pro se legal forms, legal education, and advocacy for justice, all aimed at improving access to justice. Local law offices donated $5,100 of in-kind services to WRC to support this program. Womenade is a grassroots initiative providing emergency financial assistance through one-time grants up to $700 for clients facing unexpected hardships. Womenade provided 39 clients with nearly $24,000 in aid, and the program has provided over $300,000 in aid to more than 650 individuals since its inception. Morley Empowerment combines financial literacy workshops, microloans, professional mentorship, and leadership development to equip women with the necessary skills and support to break barriers and lead positive change.

Educational Scholarships and Youth Programming The Educational Opportunity Scholarship provides tuition assistance to women looking to enhance their employability and economic stability through GEDs, vocational training, or degrees from accredited institutions. In 2024, WRC provided 12 women with a total of $12,000 in tuition assistance. Get Your Girl Power is comprised of a series of workshops for 5th-grade girls focused on building self-esteem, healthy relationships, and positive self-image, covering essential skills for life and education. In 2024, WRC served 75 La Plata County girls through the Get Your Girl Power program.
