The mission of the world institute on disability (wid) in communitites and nations worldwide is to eliminate barriers to full social integration and increase employment, economic security and health care for persons with disabilities.

Programs

Emergency preparedness, disaster risk reduction, and climate resilience through its leadership in disability-inclusive disaster planning, wid works to ensure that the needs and rights of people with disabilities are integrated into emergency preparedness and resilience efforts. Wid provides training, research, and technical assistance to governments, organizations, and communities to reduce risk and enhance safety. This work helps build more resilient systems that protect the most at-risk populations.

Accessibility and universal design wid advances accessibility and universal design to ensure that people with disabilities can fully participate in all aspects of society. By promoting inclusive technologies, built environments, and digital tools, wid works to eliminate barriers and create systems that benefit everyone. This approach not only supports equity but also strengthens innovation and usability for all communities.
