Yay Bikes

Advocacy Summit: Yay Bikes! takes an active role in trying to actively influence the conditions that help people safely and comfortably ride bicycles for transportation. To accomplish its mission, this year the organization created an annual Advocacy Summit event. The goal was to form a coalition of like-minded organizations across Columbus and Central Ohio, focused on creating a better place for people to ride bikes. The idea is to collaborate and create change through shared resources, contacts and action. Participants included other biking organizations and leaders.

Ride of Silence: This annual ride honors cyclists killed or injured on public roadways, and raises awareness of cyclists right to the road. It is a short, slow, and silent processional with hundreds of Central Ohio cyclists joining an international movement to honor cyclists killed or injured while riding on public roadways.

Monthly Neighborhood Rides: Each month the organization hosts a group event with up to 50 riders on a Saturday. The rides are organized and led by a rotating group of board members and volunteers and explore a different neighborhood in Columbus with various stops to local bike shops, coffee shops, and other small businesses on the 10-20 mile route.
