YHC discovers, preserves,and presents the history of Yellowstone National Park, West Yellowstone, and the surrounding area for the education of visitors and residents Yellowstone Historic center operates a museum.

Preservation: Continued with the digitizing of 800 historic photos to be uploaded on-line for the Montana Memory Project. Completed Forest Service Oregon Shortline Trail development. YHC serves as liason for historic signage on the developed Rails to Trails project.
Dining Lodge Program The Yellowstone Historic Center preserves, restores, and maintains the Union Pacific Dining Lodge adjacent to the railroad depot.
Oregon Shortline Trail Project - This is part of the USFS Tracks to Trails Program We are providing historic interpretive signage along the old route of the Oregon Shortline Trail. The rail brought visitors to Yellowstone. We have installed bridges and footpaths along the old route.
