York County Meals On Wheels Inc

The York County Meals on Wheels program was created to ensure that any homebound York County resident in need will receive one hot meal Monday thru Friday including holidays. The rising costs of food, contract labor, and supplies makes it extremely challenging to provide a variety of good, but healthy food, while keeping the costs of individual meals affordable. Currently, we are charged $5.90 for each meal. However, recipients are only charged $3.00 per meal because we subsidize the cost of each meal. For those recipients who are financially unable to pay, their meals are provided at no cost. In 2024, over 8,100 meals were delivered with a wellness check. In 2024, over 675 monthly wellness checks were completed to York County seniors along with a meal. More importantly, Meals on Wheels helped seniors to remain in their homes and live as independent members of society, assists in maintaining their health, manage their own affairs, and live their lives with dignity.

$12,000 was given to York County Meals on Wheels organization to deliver a hot, nutritious meal every weekday and holidays to senior residents who live alone and are unable to cook or to go to the store. Sometimes this delivery is the only person-to-person contact that senior might have. Wellness checks are also provided to those in need.
