B. Mobile produce market. Since 2018, york fresh food farms has sold the vegetables, herbs and berries it grows, through its now year-round (reduced schedule in fall/winter) mobile produce market, a farmstand-on-wheels. With 2 market vehicles (a van and a shuttle bus), the mobile produce market sets up in 14+ different underserved, food desert york, pa, neighborhoods each week to sell farm-grown produce at low and affordable prices. In 2024, 43% of the mobile produce market's sales were paid for with snap or other food assistance programs for low-income individuals, showing that york fresh food farms and its produce sales are reaching low-income families. The mobile produce market hopes to improve its market stops locations in 2024 by expanding into additional low-income neighborhoods and exploring new sales opportunities.

The project promotes the critical role food plays in overall health and demonstrates both york fresh food farm's and upmc memorial's commitment to community health and educational initiatives. The produce is used in patient and retail menus at both the york and hanover hospital locations. The project includes three 2500 square foot high tunnels for growing a variety of vegetables and herbs.
