Aquatics, sports, music & arts, and healthy living:aquatics programsthe ymca of middletown and south orange family ymca continued to lead the county in swim instruction and aquatic safety, delivering life-saving skills and confidence to hundreds of youth, teens, and adults each session.in 2024:- we provided group swim lessons to approximately 650 children per session each week- we offered 40 private lessons per week at both branches- our water exercise classes attracted 40-50 adults per class- we continued to play a central role in lifeguard certification and training throughout orange county- our competitive swim team, the barracudas, hosted at the minisink valley school district, served an average of 70 swimmers, helping youth improve their stroke techniques, sportsmanship, and team values.the ymca's two indoor pools also supported lap swim, family swim, and aquatic fitness, attracting participants from across the county of orange and sullivan.the ymca provides comprehensive programming in sports, music, and the creative arts, empowering youth to build physical literacy, boost self-confidence, and nurture their creativity and imagination.youth sportsin 2024, the y served over 550 children weekly in structured sports programs at our middletown and monroe branches. It provided structured recreation and leadership-building in a safe, welcoming space.financial assistance & annual campaignin 2024, the ymca raised $388,761 through its annual support campaign ("strong kids campaign"), thanks to y board & staff, private donors, grants, and special events.
