Mission

PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE:The mission and purpose of the YMCA is to serve the community by reaching out to everyone in the community in a spirit of inclusion and fellowship. The YMCA puts Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

HEALTHY LIVING - The Thomasville YMCA is committed to improving health and well-being in our community and beyond. We bring families closer together, encourage good health, and foster connections through fitness, sports, fun, and shared interests. As a result, over 10,000 people in our community and beyond are receiving the support, guidance, and resources they need to achieve greater health in spirit, mind and body. This is particularly important as our nation struggles with chronic disease and obesity, families wrestle with work/life balance, and individuals search for personal fulfillment. Our programs are accessible, affordable, and open to all faiths, backgrounds, abilities, and income levels. In 2024, we provided over $175,000 in financial assistance to people who otherwise may not have been able to afford to participate.

Expenses: $1.8M

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY - The Thomasville YMCA believes in giving back and supporting our neighbors. We have been listening and responding to our community's most critical social needs for more than 120 years. Y programs, such as Summer Food Services, H.O.P.E. (Helping Oncology Patients Exercise), Silver Sneakers, Preschool Swim Classes, Special Olympics, and Healthy Living Nutrition classes, are examples of how we deliver training, resources, and support that empower our neighbors to effect change, bridge gaps, and overcome obstacles. In 2024, we engaged approximately 10,000 YMCA members, participants, and volunteers in activities that strengthen our community and pave the way for future generations to thrive.
