Digital Skills Academy - Women in low and moderate income communities face several barriers to economic and social progress that are not often acknowledged in public policy decisions. These include: access to affordable childcare; access to healthcare; and availability of training for jobs that pay a living wage. YWCA Greater Atlanta's Digital Skills Academy (DSA) addresses these barriers by providing programming at no cost to enable women to step beyond them. DSA provides workforce development experience for women to increase their skill sets and work in high-demand, technology-based careers that have higher salaries, greater upward mobility, and more flexible work schedules. Participants receive extensive support, training, and coaching. 72% of women submit job applications, and 41% of women secure career advancing positions. The program's impact goes beyond measurable outcomes, as it transforms participants' lives and creates new opportunities. Since 2021 the program has served over 300 women.
ENCORE plus - Encoreplus is a community-based breast cancer awareness program designed to educate and increase breast cancer early detection among under-served and uninsured women of color. More than 1,200 women receive breast health education and more than 200 receive mammograms annually. The program addresses barriers to early breast cancer detection for women - particularly women of color- including poverty, lack of insurance, fear, culture, and system navigation, and educates program participants about breast cancer risk factors and prevention. The goal of the ENCOREplus program is to reduce the morbidity and mortality rates for underserved, uninsured, and underinsured women by providing, free mammograms, clinical breast exams and awareness to diagnose breast cancer in an early stage.
