Health and Wellness programs serve families acrossthe Merrimack Valley. YWCA offers lower income households free or reduced fee access to our wellness programs; additionally, many seniors on fixed incomes use the YWCA for free. YWCA offers a free program, YWCA Encore, to those who have experienced cancer at any time during their life. This program seeks to restore a person both physically and emotionally to deal with the trauma of cancer. Additionally, swim lessons are available for all ages from infants through adults and scholarships are available. A warm water pool supports those with arthritis and other mobility concerns.

Affordable Housing programs offer a wide range of housing options. YWCA owns and operates a single room occupancy program in a historic building on its main campus in Newburyport. These units share both kitchen and bath facilities with only a private room. There are no eligibility requirements for this program. YWCA at Hillside provides single room occupancy in Newburyport. This program offers private bath facilities but a shared kitchen. There are income eligibility requirements and 5 of the units are reserved for homeless individuals. One unit is accessible to those with disabilities. YWCA Market Street Apartments in Newburyport provide studio, one and two bedroom apartments. There are income eligibility requirements, and households must have been previously homeless to qualify for the studio or two bedroom apartments. Households must have one member who is disabled and qualify for Community Based Housing in order to be eligible for the one bedroom units. In addition, YWCA manages the Residences at Salisbury Square and YWCA Residences at Ingalls Court. Both of these projects are income restricted, both have units reserved for homeless households. RSS is designed for families with a variety of unit sizes. Ingalls Court has only 1 bedroom apartments and is for seniors over the age of 62.

YWCAs racial justice program provides educational opportunities and community building for Newburyport and the surrounding towns. We seek to be a community convener of conversations around racial and social justice with stakeholders, policy makers, and other similarly-mission organizations.
