Youth learning as citizen environmental scientists assists and rewards the implementation of inquiry-based, experiential science education where students do science and contribute to the understanding of our environment through recognition and financial reward programs, and to engage in any other activities which are not inconsistent with section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and applicable law of the district of columbia.

Program grantsexpand the globe program through us diplomatic posts in partner countries. Globe plus post grants for purchases of equipment for taking globe measurements provided to international educators through us diplomatic posts.

Student research symposia (srs)sustained planning and coordination of globe regional student research symposia. The student research symposia allow students to be involved in authentic research experiences while demystifying the scientific process. In 2024 srs funded nine gatherings of students to present their student research projects to one another and meet stem professionals and receive comments from them.

Youth environmental science medalthe youth environmental science (yes) medal is presented annually in recognition of a significant contribution to youth learning as citizen environmental scientists. The medal is presented to the recipient at an appropriate science, education, or environmental conference and is accompanied by a $10,000 grant to an organization of the recipient's choosing to further the organization's work consistent with the objectives of ylaces.
